WHAT WE DO

Welcome to the Forest Sounds- a new mobile music project giving women, and others under represented in the music production industry, free access to music production education and equipment. These free workshops will take place all around the country in Britains Forests. We are currently creating an accessible mobile music machine' containing all the music making equipment you will need in 2022! So Futuristic we know. Please email us at wearetheforestsounds@gmail.com to register your interest. Please donate to our crowdfunder here https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/the-forest-sounds-music-works-for-everyone, and share our website! We can support your music, if you support us!

HER-STORY

I learned music when I arrived onto a very active political scene in London 2011, but the movement died along side a poignant activist, Tom Palmer. Some years later, I formed a band called MADA, to continue the music that was left behind. But that failed. I attempted to record my music at home, but as a single mother of two, I struggled to get my songs recorded and produced. I literally played my guitar, sang and screamed at my computer. So PuNk I know. The sound quality of my music was not great. Music production didn’t even occur to me.

I found I was not the only one struggling to achieve a certain sound quality, but found music production very difficult, especially with a baby hanging off my breast.

In fact, I later learned that only 2% of music producers are women. And even less are gender non-conforming people. In addition, there is a severe lack of music studios that are wheelchair accessible. I decided it was time to change that.

By supporting artists who have previously been on the outside of the music industry, the Forest Sounds aims to equip under-represented artists with the skills to produce themselves and/or others. We have asked for the support of local woodlands and music production specialists from all over the country. And they said yes. We spent many long hours applying for funding, so we could bring those unable to afford these skills the opportunity to learn them, whilst dishes were left unwashed. We secured our first lot of funding, to get us off the ground. We used the money to create this website, and educational online resources coming up. But we are hoping to see if we can really get this show going. And if it doesn’t happen through mainstream funders, it can still happen, with some help from you.

If you think you have what it takes, but are struggling to access education and equipment, contact us. But before you do, please share the link to our Crowdfunder https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/the-forest-sounds-music-works-for-everyone! We can’t help others, if other’s don’t help us.

Thanks xxx
